Therapy

I’m a UK-based American therapist working locally and online with clients around the world. I draw from multiple types of therapy to tailor the therapy experience to my clients’ needs. Therapy isn’t one size fits all. Every person is unique and deserves a unique approach.

I believe that you and I are both imperfect humans working together to gain understanding of your experience. I view my role as a facilitator rather than an expert. Together, with compassionate curiosity you and I can explore your experience, emotions and what is going on for you generally. I firmly believe you know yourself best; I’m just here to support with kindness and sometimes gentle challenging.

As someone who has lived in multiple countries, I know the challenges of living abroad and world travel, and have tailored my practice for flexible scheduling.

I’m a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their regulations and ethical guidelines.

Types of Therapy I Offer

Psychotherapy

Psychotherapy is your classic talk therapy, but don’t worry, you won’t be laying on a couch while I silently take notes. Our sessions are dynamic - I use my own felt sense, intuition and feelings to help gain an understanding of what may be going on for you. I offer psychotherapy online and in Brighton.

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a therapy that uses eye movement to activate both hemispheres of the brain to help re-process trauma, difficult memories, and more. EMDR can be done in conjunction with psychotherapy or as specialized sessions. I offer EMDR online and EMDR in Brighton. More about EMDR can be found here.

Pain Reprocessing Therapy

Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT) is a way of working with chronic pain that combines neuroscience, mindfulness, and somatic tracking to help your brain reprocess the neural pathways that lead to pain. PRT can be done in conjunction with psychotherapy or as a standalone method. I offer pain reprocessing therapy online and in Brighton. More about PRT can be found here.

I believe our minds and bodies are inherently connected, so any type of therapy session with me may include trying to tune in to what messages your body is trying to send, or an exploration of how your body is holding certain emotions.

Is working with Anne right for me?

Therapy isn’t always easy. It can be challenging, however it can also be liberating and healing. If you’re ready to take a step towards healing, self exploration, and self-compassion, therapy might be for you.

If you’re looking for a therapist who is curious, compassionate and sometimes a little goofy, I might be a good fit for you. However, I believe your relationship with your therapist is an important part of the therapeutic process. Different people will need different things, and I’m not a perfect match for every person (who could be?!). If, for whatever reason, you decide I’m not a match for you, I’m happy to help you find someone who might be.
