About me
Hi, I’m Anne!
I’m an American living in Brighton, UK. I previously lived in London, Beirut and Taipei, spending time in 70+ countries in between. I am a proud Midwesterner, being from both Chicago, Illinois and Columbus, Ohio. This means I am polite and that there is no food I can’t turn into a casserole. I’m an avid runner, reader, and a somewhat reckless hiker.
Who I Work With
Many of the people I work with are thoughtful, capable, and used to managing a lot. They often come to therapy not because everything has fallen apart, but because something no longer feels sustainable. I tend to work with people who are curious, reflective, and willing to engage with therapy at some depth. Many are professionals, creatives, or internationally mobile, and value having a therapist who can think alongside them rather than offering quick solutions.
I work in a way that is collaborative, paced, and attentive to the nervous system. Rather than pushing for insight or change, I’m interested in creating the conditions where your system can begin to settle, soften, and reorganise in its own time.
Therapy with me isn’t about fixing or pathologising you. It’s about understanding how your experiences have shaped the ways you cope, relate, and protect yourself — and gently expanding what feels possible. You don’t need to be in crisis to work with me, just an openness to discuss, question and try something new.
You can read more about my work as an online therapist for UK and international clients, or explore specific approaches such as online EMDR therapy or Pain Reprocessing Therapy.
Finding the right therapist is an important decision. If you’re curious about working together, I offer a free 20-minute online consultation where you can ask questions and get a sense of whether my approach feels like a good fit.
I’m passionate about working with trauma and chronic pain because I’ve experienced them myself and know just how disrupting and devastating they can be. I also know the journey out of pain is difficult but with support and kindness, recovery is possible. Whether you’re working with me online or in person, I work from a place of relatability and compassion.
I hold a BA in Psychology, an MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy and am a full clinical member of the UKCP as well as an EMDRIA Certified Therapist™ and an EMDR UK member. You can find out more about my qualifications here.
I have tailored my practice to be the kind of therapist I wish I had when I was traveling for work, offering online therapy to clients across the UK and internationally. My work is grounded, trauma-informed, and relational, with a particular focus on helping people who function well on the outside but feel overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck underneath.
About Spare Room Wellness
“Between stimulus and response there is a space. In that space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.” - Viktor Frankl
The idea of Spare Room Wellness came from, you guessed it, my spare room. When Covid hit, I spent all my time working with clients online and doing my own yoga practice in my spare room in London. It became a refuge during a difficult time, but also reinforced the idea that creating space for ourselves is so crucial. Whether it is the physical space or the mental space, we all need a little spare room to change, to grow and to heal.
I aim to facilitate and teach from an inclusive, non-judgmental space and believe that being aware of my own presence is part of that. I actively work on my own self-development which includes my own therapy and yoga practice, as well as focusing on dismantling colonial, racist, appropriative and bigoted practices that exist in the wellness industry, my community and myself. I use my experience living around the world to take a culturally sensitive approach. At the end of the day, I believe I’m an imperfect human supporting other imperfect humans.
