My Qualifications- Important Information About How I Got Here
Some people feel uncomfortable asking a therapist about their qualifications. But honestly, I think it’s one of the most important questions you can ask.
In the UK, the fields of counselling and psychotherapy remain largely unregulated. That means anyone can call themselves a “therapist” or “counsellor” without formal training or accreditation. So when you’re looking for support—especially for trauma or complex emotional work—it’s essential to know who you’re trusting with your story.
As someone who works internationally and supports educators, trauma survivors, and high-performing professionals, I take that responsibility seriously. Here’s what that means in practice.
The Basics
My academic and professional foundations are rooted in psychology and psychotherapy.
I earned my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Northeastern Illinois University, where I began exploring the intersection of education, mental health, and cultural experience. Later, I completed my MSc in Humanistic Psychotherapy at the Metanoia Institute in London, one of the UK’s leading psychotherapy training organizations.
I am also a Full Clinical Member of the UK Council for Psychotherapy (UKCP)—one of the main accrediting and regulating bodies in the UK. This membership requires extensive clinical training, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
In short: I’m fully trained, fully registered, and fully accountable to professional and ethical standards.
The Bonuses
While formal psychotherapy training shapes the foundation of my work, I’ve always believed healing must include the body as much as the mind.
I’m a 500-hour Registered Yoga Teacher, trained in Ashtanga Vinyasa Yoga with Space Yoga School in Brighton and certified in Trauma Center Trauma-Sensitive Yoga (TCTSY) through the Trauma Center in Boston.
I’m also a Certified Breathwork Coach, trained with both Breathing Space and Oxygen Advantage, and a Practitioner of Pain Reprocessing Therapy through the Pain Reprocessing Center, which focuses on helping clients reduce chronic pain through nervous system retraining.
In trauma therapy, I’m extensively trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) through multiple institutions: the EMDR Centre London, Trauma Specialists Training Institute, and Richman EMDR Training. I hold full membership with both EMDRIA (the EMDR International Association) and EMDR UK, and I’m currently pursuing my EMDRIA Certification, with plans to begin my Consultant-in-Training process in January 2026.
These modalities—yoga, breathwork, EMDR, and pain reprocessing—all reflect the same philosophy: the body and mind are inseparable in healing.
Noteworthy Roles
In addition to private practice, I’ve had the privilege of working across a range of organizations dedicated to trauma recovery and mental health.
Trauma Specialist, BIMM University Counselling Hub (Brighton & Manchester): providing psychotherapy for students in creative and high-stress environments.
Psychotherapist, Towards Healing: supporting survivors of clerical abuse.
Therapist, Faces in Focus (London): offering free therapy to young adults navigating trauma and transition.
Examiner, Metanoia Institute: assessing final-year counselling and psychotherapy students for diploma and MSc qualifications.
Speaker: invited to present at the IB African Education Festival and the Hult Ashridge Coaching Conference, where I shared insights on trauma-informed practice, educator wellbeing, and embodied approaches to resilience.
Each of these roles has shaped my approach—grounded in both clinical expertise and real-world understanding of how trauma and stress show up in our personal and professional lives.
Why This Matters
My work sits at the intersection of trauma therapy, embodied wellbeing, and international education. Whether I’m supporting a teacher abroad, a survivor of trauma, or an organization striving to create a healthier workplace, my goal is the same: to help people find safety in themselves again.
Qualifications don’t define the whole story—but they do ensure that the work is held with integrity. You deserve nothing less. If you have questions about me, my qualifications or what any of this means, get in touch!
