EMDR for Anxiety and Panic Attacks
EMDR for Anxiety and Panic Attacks – Online Support to Calm the Nervous System
Anxiety doesn’t always come with a clear reason. It can show up suddenly, stay for hours or days, and leave you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, or out of control. Panic attacks can be even more frightening — a sudden wave of fear that seems to come out of nowhere.
If this sounds familiar, EMDR therapy may be able to help — not just to manage symptoms, but to address what’s underneath them. And it can be done safely and effectively online.
Understanding Anxiety Through the Lens of Trauma
Anxiety and panic are often signs of a nervous system stuck in survival mode. Whether or not you identify as someone with trauma, your brain and body may still be responding to past experiences that didn’t get a chance to fully process.
In EMDR therapy, we explore the roots of your anxiety — sometimes going back to early experiences of fear, helplessness, or unpredictability. These moments can create “stuck” responses in the brain that show up later as anxiety, overthinking, physical tension, or panic.
How EMDR Can Help with Anxiety and Panic
EMDR helps activate the brain’s natural processing system by using bilateral stimulation (eye movements, tapping, or sound cues). This supports your nervous system in:
Processing the original sources of anxiety
Reducing the intensity of current panic or fear
Strengthening your internal resources for calm and regulation
Letting go of the feeling that something bad is always about to happen
Unlike talk therapy alone, EMDR engages both body and mind — which can be especially helpful when anxiety feels physical and hard to describe.
EMDR Online or In-Person for Anxiety
Online EMDR allows you to work with anxiety and panic without needing to leave your space. For many clients, doing therapy from home adds an extra layer of safety, comfort, and control — which is especially helpful when dealing with panic.
Sessions are held online or in person and include:
Resourcing (calm place, breath work, grounding techniques)
Identifying and processing the roots of anxiety
Learning to recognize triggers without being overwhelmed by them
Somatic techniques to calm the body
You don’t have to push through or re-live anything before you're ready. We move at your pace.
